Funeral Director
Ready Funeral & Cremation Service – Burlington, VT
Ready Funeral & Cremation Service has a wonderful career opportunity for the right person to join our team. We are a third-generation, family-owned firm operating two locations as well as an offsite crematory. We pride ourselves on compassion, service, and teamwork, and we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running in our ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate is someone who excels at customer service, thrives in a team setting, and is dedicated to serving families during some of the most emotional times of their lives. We’re also looking for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility—with the potential to manage all aspects of our business in the future.

- Prepare vehicles and supplies for removals, services, and visitations
- Assist with data entry, proofreading, and obituary writing
- Notice the small details that make a big difference for families and teammates
- Think creatively and bring new ideas to enhance our services
- Help educate families and the community about funeral service options through workshops
- Train and mentor future generations of funeral service professionals
What We’re Looking For
- Strong moral compass, integrity, and common sense (these matter most—we can teach the rest!)
- Resourceful and able to “read between the lines” when helping families
- Calm, compassionate, and able to keep a sense of humor under pressure
- Team-focused with a “no job too small” mentality
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and willingness to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
Our Core Values
- Family first – Ours and yours. Taking care of ourselves makes us better able to serve others.
- Be humble – Mistakes happen. Owning them shows strength and growth.
- Laugh often – Humor helps us and the families we serve.
- Believe in yourself – We’ll provide the tools; you bring the confidence.
- Serve every family as if they were your own – This is how meaningful connections and friendships are made.
This Job May Not Be for You If...

- You aren’t a team player—“that’s not my job” doesn’t work here.
- You’re unwilling to step outside your comfort zone.
- You dislike being on-call or working nights in challenging conditions.
- You can’t safely lift over 50 pounds.
