Funeral Director Assistant and Trainee
We are seeking a gentle, caring, attentive, and mature person to be part of our funeral director staff. We are seeking someone who is already a licensed Funeral Director or Funeral Arranger or someone who desires to potentially progress towards a licensed funeral director, with our assistance with training and education. We are offering a long term opportunity to the right candidate and a positive work environment. Includes directing funeral services, responding when a passing occurs day and night, assisting in processing paperwork as needed, transporting the deceased, working with and supporting the families we serve, helping with general tasks, etc. Could be bi-lingual. Responsibilities:
- Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance on available options
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including scheduling, transportation, and preparation of the deceased.
-Assisting at funeral and memorial services to direct the service
- Assist families in selecting caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise
- Prepare obituary notices and coordinate with newspapers for publication
- Arrange for clergy or other individuals to conduct funeral services
- Provide grief counseling materials and bereavement support to families
- Handle necessary paperwork, such as death certificates and permits
- Help manage funeral home operations, including staff supervision and facility maintenance
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Funeral Director License (preferred but not required)
- Bilingual proficiency (preferred)
- Strong customer service skills
- Experience in funeral directing
- Bereavement support experience
- Event planning skills
- Cosmetology experience
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Sales experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.99 - $24.09 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
